Jagex Signs Three Game Deal with Earthlock Developers Snowcastle Games The RuneScape publisher will first support Ikonei Island: An Earthlock Adventure as it develops through Early Access
Jagex, the leading publisher of community-driven games, today announced a three-game publishing deal with developers Snowcastle Games. Jagex Partners and Snowcastle Games will work together on three titles in the 90s-inspired RPG adventure series, Earthlock. The first of these titles is Ikonei Island: An Earthlock Adventure which launched into Early Access on Steam in August of this year.
Snowcastle Games is an independent developer based in Oslo, Norway. Founded in 2011, Snowcastle Games launched Earthlock after a successful Kickstarter campaign in 2016. Jagex Partners will support the release of Ikonei Island: An Earthlock Adventure together with the announced sequel Earthlock 2 which is currently in development.
Ikonei Island: An Earthlock Adventure is a wholesome crafting adventure game set in the Earthlock universe. Currently in Early Access on Steam, Ikonei Island will continue to develop in partnership with players working together online in a shared world. Earthlock 2 is the sequel to Earthlock and will have more details soon.
Jagex, known for the success of its RuneScape franchise, launched Jagex Partners in 2018 to deliver publishing and operational services tailored specifically to the needs of third party studios. Snowcastle will join a talented roster of studios at the global home for community-driven games.
“Snowcastle really captured our attention when they launched the first Earthlock and we’re delighted to now link up,” said Jeff Pabst, Vice President of Third Party Launch and Partnerships at Jagex, “At Jagex Partners we're focused on community-driven games that grow alongside their players. Snowcastle's community-first approach with Earthlock lines up nicely with what we’re looking to achieve here at Jagex. Ikonei will take that approach even further as it develops into a vast online adventure shared by its community of players.”
“Jagex’s history with working with a large community of players to grow their game is really important to us,” said Bendik Stang, Creative Director at Snowcastle Games, “We’ve had a lot of success independently with Earthlock, but we knew we needed a partner for Ikonei and Earthlock 2 that would help us go even further. Jagex Partners gives us the support required to better communicate with our existing community about what they want and find new ways to invite people into the growing world of Earthlock.”
More details about Jagex Partners and Snowcastle's upcoming titles will be revealed in the coming months. For more information about Jagex Partners visit the official site, Twitter, and Instagram. For more information on Snowcastle Games and the land of Earthlock visit the official site.
