Little Cities’ latest slice of free post-launch content, the Sandbox Update, is out now on Meta Quest platforms. Developed by husband-and-wife team Purple Yonder and published by nDreams, this is the most ambitious update yet to the cozy VR city builder and introduces a totally new way to experience the ultimate creative playground.

Little Cities’ Sandbox Update invites players to lose themselves in endless cozy creativity. Using the new Landscape Editor, players can unleash their imagination to create the islands of their dreams. From stunning national parks and pirate lagoons to the ultimate holiday hideaway, the possibilities for unique shaped islands are endless!

Other new features include fresh Attractions, new types of Little Citizens and oodles of fancy foliage. Players can choose to tailor their experience with in-depth modifiers to set their own level of challenge or can opt for fuss-free creation with zero pressure or constraints.

And, of course, should players wish to just dive into free-form city creation, the all-new Random Island Generator can quickly cook up a fresh island formation.

"Creativity has always been at the heart of Little Cities and we’re thrilled to be taking that to the next level in the Sandbox Update,” said James Howard, co-founder of Purple Yonder. “Sandbox has been a popular ask from the Little Cities community and we’re excited to see just how creative they get with their island designs.”

The Sandbox Update is the latest piece of post-launch content delivered over the past year that builds on Little Cities’ solid foundations. Little Cities was named as UploadVR’s favourite new Quest game of 2022 and the ninth best Quest 2 game of all-time, hailed as “the best city simulator game on any VR platform”. The game also featured in TechRadar’s list of best Quest 2 games of 2022, celebrating it as the “best example of the [city sim] genre on Quest 2”.
