The Sound of Solitude: Bonsai Collective Debuts Behind the Scenes Look at the Making of the ‘Luna Abyss’ Soundtrack New Video Spot Produced for ‘Save & Sound’ as Lost In Cult Partnership Announced
Bonsai Collective has today lifted the lid on a brand new “Behind the Scenes” showcase detailing the soundtrack behind forthcoming narrative-driven first-person action-adventure Luna Abyss.
The fresh video spot gives both a detailed look at the recording process directly from Air Studios, London - featuring the London Voices choir - and an effusive interview with Luna Abyss composer David Housden, who talks through both his process and his relationship with the development team.
“I was sent some of the art director’s work very early on, and I could hear notes forming in my head just from looking at some of the environments he’d created,” says Housden in the video. “An equal inspiration for me is also the creative relationship that I have with [Creative Director] Benni Hill on the project. His way with words and the stories he creates inspire something profound in me creatively that the music kind of writes itself - it’s a very rare kind of thing to have.”
The video has been produced for online music festival Save & Sound. The nonprofit event - which runs on Steam between September 11th and September 14th - features exclusive content, including demos, discounts, and original content from almost 200 games.
Excitingly, the release of the new video also comes as Bonsai Collective unveils a brand new partnership with video game culture creative studio Lost In Cult to produce the Official Soundtrack on Vinyl release in association with Black Screen Records.
“Music is a big part of Luna Abyss, so it makes absolute sense we’d want to release the soundtrack in its own right,” says Benni Hill, Creative Director at Bonsai Collective. “What David has done is truly amazing, and we can’t imagine the game without his music now. He’s truly fused with everything that we’re trying to do.”
Mixing first-person bullet-hell action with a strong focus on narrative, Luna Abyss casts light on the remains of a long-lost colony, the remnants of which are scattered across the game’s caverns and valleys. It all serves as a suitable chamber for the prisoners sent into the depths of the Abyss to work off their sentences. With only an artificial prison guard named Aylin as your guide, the question of just what happened to Luna’s lost colony looms large. What are the secrets of the once-prosperous city of Greymont? And what are those strange voices that call out to you from the depths?
Luna Abyss will include:
